Obi ROTS WIP...crystal chamber added on page 3

My dream hilt is a custom Obi ROTS much like what you are creating right now.

Double for me on that one.

I like the recurrence of copper and brass for the holder- ties in the neck elements

Yes...yes you do :) .  I love the things I have been able to do with mine.  My old small mill (small table top model) didn't have one but the new (to me) mill came with two.  One small one and one giant one that I can fit MHS parts through the center.  The giant one is the only one I have used so far...

I decided I didnt like the top part of the crystal mount so I decided to change it up a little bit.  Make it more compact and fill in the center section.  Originally I left that open because I was going to use a second crystal but decided not to and use a different top.

Old on right new on left.  It still need to be cleaned up along with the rest of the parts (a little time in a tumbler) but you can see the design anyway.






Also I really like the lower more compact angle (60 degrees vs 30) and think I will change the bottom mount to have that same angle.  That gives me more room for the crystal too which kind of bugged me before.

Thanks :)   I have some small updates (no pics yet).


I got my tool for the gear section but will probably hold off cutting on it because I have some other exciting news (for me at least lol).  I talked to a machinist friend of mine and he told me how to make the cuts on the grenade section so I am ordering the tool today and will be making a 6 groove grenade section for the saber. 

The rest of it came out so nice I just couldn't stand it so I decided to take the plunge and see if I could make the cuts.  So unless it turns out horrible I will hopefully have it one more step closer to accurate.  I may make a correct box as well lol...I just cant leave stuff well enough alone.

"if" it works then that will mean the only thing that isn't scratch built on the saber will be the pommel (TCSS pommel) and the outer part of the emitter.  If it doesn't work out well back to the 8 groove...I think I can do it though.
