Title: My Second Saber
Post by: lethalkillaz on September 26, 2008, 02:15:34 PM
Recently bought a ROTS Obi Wan off TH13 here on the forums and so far I like it. The blade's a weeee bit wobbily but not wobbily enough to break while doing spins and soft swings so unlike my 2003 Luke ROTJ hopefully it wont snap anytime soon. I'm still planning to convert it though just incase. The color's pretty much a solid blue and the speaker's pretty loud which surprised me incredibly for something that only requires 3 AA batteries. Overall I give it around a 8 out of 10. My only major gripe about the saber is the imbalance in weight, it leans towards the front considerably top heavy. I guess it's okay if your using it to do tricks since its weight shifts itself forward for you, but it's a turn off for me. It was still worth the money 100% seeing that I bought it for 85 bucks shipped, though it has 3 scratches on the emitter, probably because the previous owner tried to unscrew the emitter and ended up digging into it instead.

It's blurry yes and out of focus but you can definitely see where it's scratched

Don't consider them scratches, think of them as battle damages. It adds more character.
But as far as balance, I always thought the OB1 was better balanced than most Master Replicas. Actually, if sabers were real, I'd imagine that they would feel much light the OB1.

i dont mind the scratches, they're barely noticeable unless ur being nit picky and looking at it close up. im planning to convert it sometime down the road when i get the cash. i dont know anyone in my family who has a brief sense of building and repairing so i wont be going for a Do It Yourself Kit, and i sure as xxx dont trust myself with messing around with the hilt, especially when it comes to breaking things down since all i do is break them.

still i like it, its pretty bright for something with only 3 AA batteries in. hopefully ill find the 3 AA battery version of the Luke ROTJ, but thats for another time.

Diddo.

The Blade on my stock Obi ROTS is also a little "wobbley." Some are, some aren't. :-\ I also have a converted Obi ROTS in Blazing Red. Makes the balance Even closer to the pommel(you). But I do recommend getting the metal blade holder as I'm now having issues getting a blade to fit. At least the Mid grades. (Ultrafx blades out of stock evidently) :( But the best feeling IMO.
