Original Thread content:

Starting this topic to show the progress on the creation of the DVD.

As of right now I have a script written up and a basic layout that I want to do.

I want the DVD to have a main menu with scene selection for each individual tutorial.

What the video will consist of:

Saber basics
-parts of the saber
-types of sabers
-different ways to hold the saber

Saber Spins-More indepth look at each spin.
-One handed Spins
-Dual Saber Spins (2 sabers at once)
-Double Bladed Saber Spins

I'll be getting a video camera to use hopefull next weekend to do the filming.
My brother owns a martial arts dojo so I will likely be using that as my setting.

I'll update the topic as I keep progressing on the DVD.

The topic will remain locked until the release of the DVD when comments can be made.

Thanks to everyone for the support in me making these tutorials.  If it wasn't for those out there wanting to learn, I wouldn't be having so much fun!

May The Force FX Be With You!

UPDATE: The store is closed for restructuring, but you can PM me for info on how to order the DVD.

Just worked out a new single saber spin exclusively for the DVD.  Its an unbelievable awesome spin and it will take A LOT of practice to get it down.  Its unlike anything I've done before.

Just ordered a new laptop to use for uploading my video from the camera and do the editing.

My desktop is so old it didn't have the right connection port or drive to use so I would be able to edit and make a dvd...so I had to upgrade.
The laptop I got is going to only be used for editing video and nothing else.

Scheduled to do the first run of video at my brother's Martial Arts school, Myers Family Karate & Krav Maga Center, on Sunday.
The Dual (two) saber tutorials were limited to only 5 lessons, so my Brother will be showing me some more Dual saber spins based from escrima. to possibly get that number up to 10 for the dual sabers

10 single saber lessons(including a new one)

10 dual saber lessons(including 5 new ones, hopefully)

15+ Saberstaff lessons

I will post more as details become available

Okay, should be filming this weekend.

Today, I worked on the DVD cover art.  I'm still getting use to editing images, but I think it came out okay.

Now I just have to do the Spine and the Back.

I'm still debating on if I will put a label on the DVD disc itself as I fear it might interfere with the playing of the DVD.

I had heard that certain labels would.  I just have to make sure the labels are DVD safe.  I saw some today that advertised that on the packaging.
I will definitely test it in a few players before its final.

Tutorials 1-20 are filmed.  I will be going through editiing those in the next week.
Tutorials 21-30 are set to be filmed two weeks from today.  Then I will edit those into the rest and come up with the final DVD.

Vid is uploaded to the laptop and will begin editing tomorrow.  So far with tutorials 1-20 I have 35 minutes of footage.  I expect to extend the other 10 to add another 35-40 minutes.

Just seems that one thing after another keeps me from finishing this project....but

I finished editing all the video.  Now I just have to set up the DVD authoring and make my first DVD!

I pray that it turns out the way I want it without any hitches.

Fingers crossed all!

(ive had  a lot of time to work on this since I've been layed up)

IT'S DONE!

I burned my first 2 copies about an hour ago and im watching one right now to make sure it works fine.

So far so good.

It has exactly what I wanted where as the Main Menu has 2 options to "play tutorials" or "scene selection"  When you choose scene selection you go to a page with the first 6 selectable chapters of the dvd.  There are 6 pages in all of selectable chapters (1-34)

In the credit roll, I give thanks to all those here that have supported me in making this dvd as well as my 100+ subscribers on youtube.

Now the main menu isn't as fancy as a SW dvd with animated menus and all, but maybe oneday I will get to the point that I'm familiar with the software I have that I can do that and make a "Special Edition" with more content.

The Tutorials on the DVD itself have been expanded with over an hour of footage for the 30 tutorials.(10 single saber, 10 dual-weilding and 10 Saber Staff)  Some tutorials were condensed into one tute to be able to add some new ones.  I believe there are at least 7 new spins exclusive to the DVD:
-1 Single Saber spin which is just awesome once you learn it...I dubbed it the UV spin.
-5 Dual Weilding spins which were taught to me by my brother, who owns the Martial Arts school I filmed at.
-1 Saber Staff spin which can be used along with the "Darth Maul" spin.

Now I just have to get with Yoda to find out the next step.
