Force Magic is simply a Reed Switch!
« on: February 20, 2018, 04:47:56 PM »
I made a lightsaber recently and I wanted to share something I researched!

In this build, I used reed switch, which is a magnet activated momentary switch, it's very small, and it works with most magnets.
I simply set the reed switch by the crystal chamber and it works great!
There's an Ebay seller that sells these!

Magnetic activation switch "Force Magic Switch" implemented in CF is different, based on magnetic field sensing of digital accelerometer. But yeah, using a reed switch magnetic activation can be made in any build with any sound board.

Someone asked me to build them a water proof lightsaber (then backed out before I got the chance to build it).  I was planning on using the very thing :D

Waterproof lightsaber huh? That’s interesting. What materials were you going to use?

I remember trying something like this but my issue was that since I don't have an exposed crystal chamber, I couldn't get the reed switch to activate through the wall of the hilt. It seemed like even with a fairly strong magnet it needed to be right on it.
