Anniversary Saber Kit group order
« on: September 29, 2006, 02:06:40 AM »
Im not sure if any of you have seen this or not but its really a great deal.  With 5 or more people the price drops to $300 for the set.  Thats $100 each for some of the most acurate hilts you can get.  Im in so if there are 4 more of you out there were set.  Heres the link

These are just hilts right? No electronics, no lighting or blade?

Its quite tempting but I think I'm gonna get with Roman on his group project on the obi anh saber.  The quality just seems better than Park's obi saber.

Thanks to Darth Nerdold for the sig!

Good idea with Roman's Obi-Wan ANH saber.  Considering too that his replica parts were machined after all real authentic pieces so Roman's is the only one out there right now that's 100% accurate.

I looked at this kit right before I jumped on the Roman's group at RS, but the promise of a totally accurate Obi proved too much of a temptation. :D

I have an old Parks EL Obi and while it does look nice, as does the obi in the set, it does not have the accuracy of Roman's.  Still for the flashguns alone the bulk price on the anniversary kit is nearly worth it.

The difficult question is; a clean or weathered MK1, La-z? ;)

The Parks OWK may not be completely accurate, but IMHO, it's worth $100.  A little paint, Dremel work, a set of transistors, and a Blast-Tech LED strip, and you have a pretty nice looking replica.  It looks like he's changed the design of the emitter, so the Dremel work might not be needed.
It's no where near as nice or accurate as Romans, but it's also 1/3 the price.

The Parks Graflex replica is pretty close to the original, it will even flash a bulb.   Toss the inaccurate Parks D-ring and bubble strip and get the accurate pieces from Blast-Tech to make a great looking Luke ANH replica.

I haven't seen a Parks MPP replica in person.  (my MPP is a Larbel)  From the pictures I've seen and from what I've read on several forums, it's a pretty accurate reproduction as well.  It will flash a bulb also.  You'll need to drill the holes in the emitter for a D-ring and toss the bubble strip for a more accurate one, Blast-Tech to the rescue again.

So is anyone interested in this?  IMO its agreat deal.  They may not be 100% but im not that picky I guess.  The Obi-Wan looks like the AFBB version to me.  Does anyone have a link to the Romans one.  I havent seen it.

The price certainly is right on the set, no doubt.  Here is that link to the Roman's order on RS, JSS.

If someone (Obi-wan?) wanted to split a set I'd love a Parks MPP. ::)

Anyone else notice the wind vane on the OWK is upside down in that ad?

While still not completely accurate, I have to admit, the emitters look much better than they used to.

As much as I'd like to be in on this order, I'd only be interested in an another MPP.  I already have 2 Parks Graflex and a Mark 3.

They sell an EL version for $275.  :-\

I think the non-EL MPP is only available in the Anniversary Kit (Graflex, Mark 3, and MPP) and the Ultimate Saber Kit (Mark 3, MPP, and Kobold).  You could always call Parks to find out if they would sell one individually.  Keep an eye on ebay and the RPF, they come up for sale there from time to time.

Have you got a link to that MPP EL? I can't find it on the website. Thanks.  :)

EDIT-Aha-just found it. You have to go to the 'purchase online' section, and there it is. Very nice. Another one for the list. I might contact parks as I don't want an EL one really, I just want a hilt to convert to luxeon with Vader ESB sounds.  ;)

You'd want to use an Graflex shop adapter because it fits the Mpp corectly and has 1 inch available.
But there is little room for electronics after it.
I have a Graflex installation which is similar but the batteries would be inaccessable so it would need
modification.

Hence why I'm not doing Mpps right now, untill Graflexshop does the Shorter adapters which won't be for a while
but they are coming I believe.
