Title: Just received my Obi-Wan ROTS
Post by: Darth Matth on October 18, 2007, 12:27:11 PM
I just received my Obi ROTS.
The Hilt, (Fully metal) is very heavy, and I like that. (I thought my Ani was a heavy one, I have the latest version)
The hole saber is very strong and creacking free.

The blade is a killer, blotchness free and very bright, the best MR have ever made, and a bit stronger than my Ani ROTS.

The Obi sound is a bit louder than the new Luke ANH, but half as loud than my Anakin ROTS.
The sound of the Ani is almost twice as loud as all the other sabers.
Maybe it's mine, but the HUMMING sound of my Ani is like a lion in my room.

But the Obi-hilt is VERY BULKY and nobody wrote about that.
This was the reason I sold my Mace windu again, and because of the sound which was worse.
The bottom end-cap is SOOOO big, it's almost a giant granate..
Compared with this, the Ani is SO VERY small, and I think it's the best MR has ever made.
The hole saber is on scale, (except for the fat neck) The black part between the controlbox and the gold part is the base I think, which could not be made smaller, and from that part, all the other parts are on scale, so the bigger parts, like the upper mirrored part(emitter I think) and the end-cap, have to be very big, and that makes the hole saber a bit bulky.
But It's exceptable.
Whenyou give this saber to someone that sees a lightsaber for the first time, than that person feels and sees a serious real looking saber.
So for that it's a winner.
There are people who like to convert their sabers.
With this one I would say, for the blade I see no need for that, but when it's possible to increase the loudness, than I probable would do it too.

Conclusion.
The blade is the best MR made, ever.
Even better than my Luke ANH.
The hilt is fully metal, but BULKY.
The sounds are to dim for me to like it, but I will survive.
I'm not selling this one, as the Luke ANH which is in the box again for selling.
Except,... when MR makes the Obi AOTC, than this one goes for sell too.
I was waiting for that one, but it seems MR don't come out with another saber again.
And everywhere the Obi ROTS was sold out, so I took my last chance at a shop here in Holland, for €109,-- instead of the €139,-- which it's normally costs here.
I really liked the Obi Wan ROTS  0,45 scaled  mini lightsaber so much.
It is very shinny and detailed. I was hoping I would like the FX version as much as the Mini but nehhh, no chance. I think the LE had to be very beautyfull.

Too bad I don't have the Obi AOTC mini, but I'll live. (NOT)

(Ohhh well, after a few hours, looking and holding this saber, it starts to grow on me, and I like it more and more. You should see my first review of the Anakin ROTS, two years ago, compared to what I think of it now, ha ha ha).

:)Congrats on your saber! As far as the MR's goes it's a toss-up for me between the Double Maul and the ROTS Obi.I love these two sabers,The Luke ANH was far too light for me.I do like the Obi a great choice.

The Maul is indeed a heavy fully metal saber.
That hilt is the best, only the blade is a bit dim.
But the hilt covers for that.
I changed the review a bit, I always do that.

Congrats on getting an Obi Wan ROTS saber.

It is definitely one of the heaviest.   Mine is only a display model, mainly because I like my light sabers to be...well, light! ahhah

That is why I love my ROTJ Luke and Darth Maul.   Also I'm still having great fun with my ANH Luke tpp~!

Nice. I've really been wanting the Obi-wan lately; hopefully I get a chance to pick one up.

I must say though I never understand why everyone likes the Ani ROTS so much. I hated that saber. It had too many plastic details, the chrome paint rubbed off too easily, and it creaked like crazy. The Luke ANH I got is a huge step up.

Congratulations on getting hands down one of the best FXs.

It's also the ONLY Obi-Wan saber made by MR.  So it's pretty special in that regard too.

Thank you guy's.
I have it for a few day's now and I really love it.
I have the need to pick it up all the time.

Andy, did you have the first Ani than, because I felt that one and it was very light and toyish, and I didn't like that one at all?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think so. It had brass pins.

The constant creaking was the worst part, but there was also too much paint wearing off in key spots like the activation switch, activation box cover, and the red-gold paint where the glass eye should be.

Whoooh man, that's to bad.
The later version is very heavy, and I played with it a lot, but no paint waering of,... yet.
Now it's a little creacking, very little.
It is not as heavy as the Obi Wan that we all (here at home) think of to be the very best now.
I still MUST hold it in my hand.
If I should Write my review again, it would be much more possitive, altough my first impression was important too, because people all have their first impression too.
When I took that saber out of the box, the first thing I saw was the bottom end-cap right infront of my eyes, and it looked very hugh.
Now I don't think that anymore.
I really love the Obi Wan.
It's now my Obi ONE.
The sound is still a bit soft, but I wrote that about my Ani too, when I received it about two years ago.
Maybe the loudness will go up in time when the speaker loos-up a bit.
Maybe this is what happened whit my Ani too.

Thank you verry much.
It's the one for me now.
It's the most sword-like saber there is.
I can imagine this hilt with a metal blade.
It's also sturdy enough for that.
Not that I wanna do that but this hilt feels the best.
I can't get shut up about it.

Only the soundis still a bit to dim.

Zero complain from me regards to the weight and size of the hilt... maybe I got big hands! LOL

But mine with fresh Duracels is softer than my ANH Luke's which batteries are running out.
