Title: "Flange" emitter (Luke ROTJ/Obiwan ANH) + custom hilt?
Post by: Jedi-Diah on November 17, 2008, 01:03:14 PM
Has anyone tried to use the Parks "Flange" emitter for a custom Luke ROTJ or Obi Wan ANH?

I love the way those emitters look compared with the MR or even TCSS emitters. Of course the tough part is the thin neck and only a 3/4" blade but seems very do-able if you have access to a lathe. I love the way Madcow did his custom Luke V2. He also went with the thinner neck and 3/4" blade (but all custom machined).

They are not designed to be blade holders.  They are 7/8" internal diameter.  They are meant to slide OVER a 3/4" ID tube, then be locked in place.

Machining them out is not going to be easy because you need to take enough material out of the inner diameter.  There are holes bored around that perimeter. Sure you could mill it out, but why go to all the trouble when you can just machine one yourself if you have access to a lathe anyway?

Yeah. I guess that's why Madcau made his own...

I'd maybe like to use one even over a 7/8" tube with a 3/4" blade. I don't have a lathe...

Any recommendations to who could make an emitter/neck like Madcow's? Madcow is too busy right now for custom stuff.
