DM's V2 Luke(new pics)
« on: August 19, 2006, 04:13:40 PM »
Here's mine, thanks to all the pioneers who figured everything out so I knew exactly what to do when converting this saber.  It has a clamp from an ESB FX and I will add the d ring soon.  I have a cone knob to install over the power switch(thanks Mcallister for the idea), I just have to locate it somewhere around my house.

Added more paint.

Thanks I threw it together this afternoon.  The black paint I used is a little to glossy, but overall I'm pleased.

How did you change the colour on the control box to silver? I'm seriously thinking of it

That looks awesome Malek!  Makes me even more impatient to get mine put together…  What would you say was the hardest step for this conversion?

It’s the control box (clamp) from the Luke ESB FX.

Probably the only thing that I was unsure about was relocating the power switch.  It is in the same place as Mcallister's and I am glad that this is not a "clean" saber as my placement of the switch is not pretty.  You have to drill out a hole and cut a channel in the wedge shaped guide that holds the battery holder on track.  Run wires through the wedge.  Mcallister pretty much says it all.  Now to change an Obi Rots to an Obi ANH...

im sure the re-location of the switch is easy, but i think i have an even more simple solution. but we wont find out until i get another luke ESB :(
FX Sabers i own:
Darth Maul: TPM (Double Bladed)
Anakin Skywalker: AOTC
Obi- Wan Kenobi: ROTS
Anakin Skywalker: ROTS
Mace Windu: ROTS
Darth Vader: ANH
Luke Skywalker: ESB
Darth Vader: ESB
Luke Skywalker: ROTJ (LED Version)

Malak - Looking sharp man, nice job.  Glad you didn't have any problems rewiring.  I tried sending a PM but your box was full.  I got a question for you

Malab - Definately interested in seeing your wiring arrangement.

I would recommend to anyone else attempting this conversion to look closely at Robiwon's conversion for relocating the switch.  My method works but Robi's is simply the easiest and, IMO, the most effective method.

Oh yeah, Malak - need more pictures ;D

I just cleared out my box.  As for wiring, all I had to do was extend the wires about an inch.  Okay more pics on the way. :)

Thank you Anakin.  I say threw it together because it was done so quickly.  It didn't take long at all.  Well not long compared to when I polished my other Luke. ;D
