HI All!
A few times through-out the year, Casey and I donate a saber or two here and there to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to obtain one. They are usually just stunt hilts, ...but the kids love them.
This year we want to something different.
Our acolyte series stunt hilts are fairly popular with the kids.
Here is a sample of Acolytes:http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=18593.0So this year, we are making a run of 20 hilts. We'll sell 10 of them here on the forums for around $110.00, no blade.
For every ONE hilt sold, we will give one hilt to a child.
Here is where we could use some help.
20 hilts means:
30 1.25 sink tubes
20 buttons
20 battery packs
20 TCSS 1.25 sink tube adapters -OUCH!!
20 Lens
20 Lens holders
5' 1/8" shrink tubing
10' red wire
10' black wire
20 LEDs ---again OUCH!
10 blades <----for the giveaway hilts, ....can't give a kid a hilt without a blade now can we. LOL
20 retention screws.
Batteries, ...Oh noes, ..don't forget about batteries, .......80 AAA batteries. lol
The above is the MINIMUM, if the outcome is good, we could possibly see more hilts given away.
While the sabers being sold are meant to cover the costs, ...it wont cover ALL the costs.
I'm reaching out to anyone who can help. Donating ANYTHING, retention screws, ...buttons/switches, ....LEDs, 1.25" sink tubes...anything. The rest will be covered by Gemini Concepts. If a whole bunch of stuff is donated, and we get in the clear,...then we'll use the rest to make additional sabers.
A little bit from a lot of people goes a long way, ...if 20 people send a screw, ..and LED, ...some lens/holders, .... It makes a HUGE difference.
The bottom line, ....this forum, our internet family and the great folks, members, moderators, arbiters, admins and staff that make FX-Sabers is some of the best people the world wide web has to offer. Very seldom can you find such a group, ...such a LARGE group of people who can agree to share such a passion that we all hold so dear to us, ...and do it with tact and style. We have our differences here and there, we had our little spats, but at the end of the day, ...we can all agree on the same thing. Star Wars, Lightsabers and the various props that draw our attention, captivate our minds and make us all kids again is a experience like no other, ....let's help spread the goodness that is Star Wars!
Let's make this a group effort!Thanks.
Side note:
I know of 3 or 4 kids in my local area who could benefit from this. If ANYONE knows a kid whose parents can't afford these toys, and really digs Star Wars, ...let us know via PM.THOUGHTS?
