Gemini Concepts Presents: Ri-on Ozryel's Starkiller Mod!!
« on: March 24, 2009, 05:18:28 PM »
Yep, .....we did another, but wait, .....this one's a little different ;)

Ri-on sent us a Quartz crystal to add to the hilt. We pondered this for a few days and decided to keep it simple.
We experimented with a few options and decided on just a few wraps of copper wire and add the compression fitting to the rod, oh, ....and have the rod touching the crystal.

Both the copper and brass will tarnish/patina rather quickly and continue the weathered look that the starkiller hilt has.

It features a Hasbro FX vader board and powered by 4 AAA batteries. Split hilt style again. We drilled a few holes in the pommel cap and sanded it down to give the continued weathered look.

It's pretty loud and the motion sensor on this is set just right, it really captures the swing and clash sounds well.

The inside of the lower hilt is protected with a poly-carb sleeve to prevent any shorting out of the sound board, the board is secured to this sleeve as well.

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures, and a video

The video, .....this one has no effect on any radio stars!

Saaay, that pretty nice. I'm watching the video now. That sucker's bright! One of these days guys, one of these days. :D ;)

That accent LED is so bright, I can't get over that. :o

The pommel cap is just a push in tab held cap? I thought they'd be threaded. shoot, it's still a nice saber. I love the copper wrap on the crystal too.

I edited this like 4 times. :D I'm soooo tired. ::)

Awesome job Darth Call. When I first got the saber I was pretty bummed out. It seemed "Machinedefects" forgot what his initial design looked like and forgot to include some of the parts and skimped on the others. I initially played around with a crystal chamber idea but due to the size constraints of the hilt it just ended in frustration. After seeing the other 2 Starkillers Gemini Concepts had done, I figure my best option would be to send it out to them and get a fresh pair of eyes on it. I'm glad I did. You guys did a great job. I'm looking forward to finally receiving the saber I originally wanted. Thanks Gemini Concepts!  ;D

Je-Rel...haven't seen you in a while...welcome back.
Now I see you were busy completing the Jedi trials to become Moderator.  :D

I agree. In the beginning, I didn't really like the Starkiller saber, but Darth Call...you did a great job!

Thank you Ri-on, we appreciate the chance to help you out and appreciate the extremely kind words.

As always, we keep the sabers for a few extra days to test them out and make sure they work properly. I'll email you the tracking number and expected shipping date this week,

This has been a fun and enjoyable mod and I'm glad you went with quartz, that's a pretty cool idea.
Thanks again!

and thank you all for the support and compliments on these starkiller mods.
