Larbel-O Non EL-Ready Conversion by it's OG

Larbel-O, the Non-EL-Ready version

A history lesson to some, bragging to others, but upon a time a fellow named LDM converted the first of the non-convertable Larbel-O non-EL-Ready sabers.  In those days of yore, nobody had machines except the venerable Dremel.  Certain conversions were considered "impossible".  My response to that has always been..."Have you met me?"  In another venue, I may have said,"Challenge Accepted!", but I digress.  Master Yoda had been doing the EL-Ready version for a while when I did the first of these. Later, Gxx Gxxxxx came along and claimed ownership to being "first".  In those days, such things mattered.  With the explosion of fly-by-night, hang a shingle "sabersmiths" many of the lessons of the past have flown.  Many know not the truth.  Many simply don't care.  Back to this project.  A very nice fellow approached me and asked me if I "knew how to convert" this particular saber.  Initially, I got a bit mad (although he doesn't know that, nor did I blame him) but then I decided that it really is not important to me any more.  What was important was that I would love to do another one with my modern machines and see how much better it could be.  This one has hidden sound venting (like the original few that I did) but it also has an accessible recharge port (without disassembling it that is), it has FoC, it has a long life Li-ion pack (although the originals had Li-ion as well) and a very elegant machined optics module that supports the switches (red button is power and purple cabochon is Aux)and is held in place by an elegant custom machined tension ring.  The CSv2 is driving a Tri-Rebel BBW and the machined-to-1" BH allows for a scorchingly bright blade.  The speaker was machined into the hilt and the sound quality is amazing on this one.  That is most likely the greatest improvement over the early examples.  Anyways, hope some enjoyed the history lesson and hope some got a chuckle from my sarcasm at the very least.  Enjoy.

LOL, thanks fellas.  I actually took a picture next to my OM TPM and this hilt is very close.  Not better, but certainly a viable substitute if an OM is not available ;)

I recall back in the day (around 2008-2009) when a converted Larbel Obi or Qui was a very special piece due to the extensive machining necessary, and very few smiths did them.  Marc/GG is truly a OG in this hobby and seeing a converted Larbel that sounds better than ever is a testament to  GG's awesome skill set!

LOL, I replied to your PM with some info on this.  They are surprisingly affordable depending on how much the hilt ends up costing.

You are too kind Howard!  Thank you  ^-^
