New look on an old MHS - Franken-saber
« on: July 28, 2008, 02:59:34 PM »
I called this one "Franken-saber" because it was cobbled together with peices laying about... kinda like mongrel...

A little background...
I've had this one for a while, but I just got a new blade holder for it.  Tim cut down a style 5 and voila, evil happiness!
There's a 5mm RGB LED right next to the switch and it's wired like a bargraph, and a 3mm green right next to that for low battery indicator.  The "brass" ring is from an MR mace and it sit on top of an o-ring and held on by pressure from screwing it on.  CF V3.0/3.1 loaded with Novastar, Phoenix Pyre, Blackstar, EP4, EP5, Heirloom.  This is pretty much all MHS parts and minus a few things like the RGB, ring and CF, everything is available from TCSS.

It's got a Lux III r/o and wow, does it work with this hilt!

Beautiful emitter!
To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...

So sithy...I love that emitter. This one and the style 6 you had milled down are probably my favorite MHS emitters ever.

Hahahaha! The song reminds me of when Homer wants to be cool with the kids who are drinking in the van during one of his flashbacks!

That Sith sound at the end is the real Sith sound that MR never could get a hold of! Nice saber, Eastern 57!

LOL! :) Thanks everyone!  I love that song too!  Didn't it get made into a commercial for a computer company some years ago?

This is the emitter that ALuke is refering to:

Tim did that one too, it's more of a utility feel, but just as nice 8) It's going on another project... not finished yet though...

That is really a uniquely awesome saber.  About how long is it would you say?  That emitter section looks like it would be perfect for spinning.  Is it balanced?

Job well done friend.

Peace,
Silkvein

Looks to me like there is a 3" extension, 2" extension, ribbed grip (3.7"), emitter (2"), dbl male (.25"), and a pommel style 1 in there (.7"). Add that up and I get 11.65"

Hey, Eastern 57, I cleaned it up a little for you and added clickability. Let me know if you like this presentation format A format I use alot) or if you want the old one back. I saved it for you if you want it back. ;)

Thanks, Han, that's great!  And mighty gentlemanly of you... you big Corellian softie ;) I'll read up on how to do that, to keep future posts neat.

The hillt has a few o-rings in there for spacers and grip, so it comes out to roughly 12.1875" (including recharge port).

It is comfortable, even with the ring and buttons and LEDs... they don't really get in the way.  And... strangely enough, with a 30" blade, it balances PERFECTLY in the smooth slope of the emitter...right in the webbing between my thumb and forefinger... so comfortable.

:)

No problems, Eastern 57. I figure that by making them clickable and that by reducing the top to bottom length of your review, it can be easier for us "older" to retain what we read! ;)

I like using that picture format.
