Help needed with COB led lightsaber blade
« on: January 14, 2021, 10:23:05 AM »
Hi there, Im trying to build my first lightsaber, I was attempting to run a 24v 1000mAh COB led strip through the blade on A23 batteries however they aren't providing the power I need to bring the led strip to full brightness. I wanted to know if anyone has experience or advice on if a buck boost converter would help or if I need to swap the batteries to something else. I was also attempting to build a second style with a 12V 3000mAh COB led strip if you have any advice on that.

Your power source needs to be able to deliver enough current under load.  It's much more reasonable to go for the 12v version using 3x lithium cells with the proper battery management board.  You will need to make sure you battery selection exceeds the current demand.

A number of us discussed making cob blades some years back, but it was ultimately impractical due especially to the power pack issue.
