Hopping on the Graflex 2.0 build bandwagon
« on: February 25, 2016, 09:46:56 AM »
I figured I'd post up my Graflex 2.0 build just like everyone else. This should be complete once my replacement battery comes in. This was a straight forward build. Big shout out thanks to Randy for the lightsaber, and thanks to DarthRyo for the chassis. Couldn't have done it without you guys.

This build is for my father, who has been raised me, mentored me, and made me jump off of buildings. Thanks dad.

Parts:
Graflex 2.0
NBv3 (to minimize the wiring)
Tri-Cree BBW
28mm speaker (old and needed to be used)
Darth Ryo Chassis
Darth Navel heatsink
2.1mm recharge port w/ Darth Ryo turning kill-key
3mm blue power indicator LED

UPDATE: All done.

The accent LED is directly under the soundboard. There's plenty of space.

Blade plug made by Khal. You can see his sale thread in the sales forum.

How did you secure the NBv3 to the chassis? Just pressed it in? Also you wired the LED + directly to the battery then 2 wires from the + battery to board and recharge port? I didn't know you could wire in that sequence...does the + wiring sequence matter? Your wiring is super clean! Love it!

Super sleek and stunning work man! I have the exact same parts as you. I am just waiting on the kit.

May I ask how long did you leave the rods?

Recharge port only creates a break on the ground side. Battery + can be wired from board or directly from battery, I prefer battery because the board controls ground side. NBv2 and v3 will just press fit. I secured it down with hot glue for extra measure.

Depends on how deep your taps are. You will need to measure after you tap your holes. Make sure you have extra thread for the nut.

I have 2 12" 4-40 Rods. I just received my drill and tap today. I still need to get the washers or insert, not sure which to use yet.

Not hijacking thread but question for you or anybody out there. When wiring up your NV3 did you take the leads from the port to the board directly with a second lead coming off (2wires in same +/- board hole) to the Cree and switch or did you splice the port wire to a single wire off the +/- board holes to the parts. I ask bc I tried the splice way and it won't light my Cree but if test port wires directly to Cree get lights. Ran out of time to see if board getting power or not through the splice.

try www.yardleyproducts.com they carry brass inserts in 4-40
they just sent me free samples of their inserts because they work on a larger scale...minimum order I think is like $70 worth of inserts...so just see what you would need and ask them if they can send you out a free sample! can't beat that!

I just ordered from Grainger. Yardley has a $40 min- order. I only spent $12 at Grainger.
