Understanding lightsaber family
« on: July 01, 2014, 07:57:15 AM »
Hi there!
I am a new user and a recently Star Wars fan.

I am going to buy my first lightsaber and it will be Luke Skywalker ROTJ. During my search for that saber I found many and many kind of sabers and many different version about the edition of Hasbro lightsabers, so many that now I am totally confused!

Please help me to understand.

First of all I know that exist Ultimate FX lightsabers, but I am not intersted in these sabers because they are child toys.
I want to know about adult edition.
I understand that adult edition is called: ==>"Hasbro Signature Series - [character name eg: Luke Skywalker] Force FX lightsaber Collectible"<==

Ok, now take Luke Skywalker's one for example, some said me that the "Hasbro Signature Series - Luke Skywalker Force FX lightsaber Collectible" is out of production, they said me that Hasbro don't make it anymore so it is impossible to backorder it; someone else said me that Hasbro is make this saber still but they stopped to make Luke Skywalker saber with removable blade. Then I found that exist lightsaber of 2007 and 2010.
So can you now understand why I am so confused? :)

I have many questions: does exist Luke Skywaler ROTJ w/removable blade and also with fixed blade? Is the same for the other characters of Star Wars?
So please can you help me to understand?
It will be amazing if exist some schema about Hasbo lightsaber family or something like that.

Thank you,
Andy.

I'm not fully educated on the situation, BUT I do know of a few versions:

the company 'master replicas' released two versions of ROTJ Luke, one in 2003 and one in 2005 with improved lighting.  Master Replicas went bankrupt and Hasbro acquired the rights to make force fx lightsabers.

I only know of one Luke ROTJ force fx saber, which you can find here:
Amazon.com: Star Wars Signature Series Force FX Lightsaber - Luke Skywalker:

I do know, however, that there does not exist a Luke ROTJ with removable blade.  Hasbro has only released the Luke ANH version with removable blade.

Yes, this is exactly what I understand. So Luke ROTJ force fx saber is NOT out of production, isn't is?

I'm pretty sure the ANH removable blade is out of production and harder to find, but the ROTJ without removable blade is easy to find.  Not sure if Hasbro is still rolling them off the factory lines, but you can find them easily online

It's incredible ehehe here in Italy is exactly the opposite!! It's hard to find Luke ROTJ (someone tell me that is impossible!!) and it's easy to find ANH removable blade!

Unfortunately I can't buy Luke ROTJ from Amazon.com because they don't ship it to Italy and if I search this saber on Amazon.it I can't find it.
But no problem, now I am going to buy it on SecretCompass or BriansToys which ship to Italy.
But those two buyers said to me two difference things. BriansToys did not even understand the question (maybe it's my English or maybe they don't wanna specify if they are selling force fx or ultimate fx); SecretCompass help me but said that Luke ROTJ w/removable blade is out of production (mistake!!!) and also said me that they are backordering Luke ROTJ with fixed blade

Once in a while they pop up here but eBay is usually the place you'll see them floating around. Hopefully you manage to find one there that is in good shape and not being sold for a small fortune.

I did a quick look on eBay and found about 10 of them right away at various different price ranges(1 of which was a conversion that has a removeable blade BUT it's a bit shorter as one of the neck pieces is missing). They are definitely out there so I would check each of the descriptions thoroughly first.

Luke rotj esq wip
Here is my luke rotj that I'm making a lil more screen accurate.
Those mr and hasbros are not even close. But if you don't care about that then that's fine.
Here is slothfurnace version. Welcome to Slothfurnace.com... Tasty!
I think jk has also done a limited run of the thin neck Luke's.

Oh yes. I just seen this saber before and it's really incredible how accurate it is but it's too expensive for me ehehe. Hasbro is good as first saber :)

I'm not sure if sloth ever wanted to sell his. When jk ones come around they are over a grand $1000
Here is one. JQ Luke Hero CF7
Mine I will be selling but not sure how much yet. There is a lot of work that goes into converting these things. Don't think anyone has converted a mr like me, and with good reason..... It's very difficult.
