CF 4.31 Revan saber for JM419 *pic heavy*

The Boring Stuff

Let's turn the clock back almost 2 months.  The CFv6 contest was starting up and I asked JM if he would be on my "team" to help me win the CF.  Quite obviously, there was only one prize, but he agreed to help me anyway.  During the course of the contest, I found out he had this saber and a CF4.31 just for it.  I also found out he was planning on spending hundreds of dollars and countless months learning how to install it himself.  While that's not a bad thing, he also mentioned after he got this he was pretty much done with his collection.  So, rather than letting him spend all of that time and money just to finish one saber, I offered to do the install for him as my thanks for helping me in the contest.  Fast forward to today, and that saber is done and ready to be shipped off.  I don't actually know who the maker of the hilt is and JM mentioned that he doesn't want that info public, so please don't send him or me PMs asking who made the hilt.

A big shoutout to Arkhan for modifying a new style tcss heatsink for me, Machinimax for allowing us to have the KOTOR font a bit early, and Darth Xusia for helping us with some formatting issues as well as letting us use his Savior font.  Just straightening out the fonts on this took the better part of 2 weeks.

The Specs

Soundboard: Crystal Focus Saber Core v 4.31
Power Supply: 2 X 14650 twin pack
Speaker: 1.5W Kobitone
Led: LEDengin 10W RGBW
Main Blade Color: Red and Sky Blue (changeable via quick disconnectors)
FoC Color: White
Lens: 8.7 degree
Recharge Port: 1.3mm underneath heatsink
Other Stuff: TCSS "New Style" heatsink modified by arkhan, Latching switch on side of hilt, Aux switch in pommel, no setscrew.

The Soundfonts
1: KOTOR by Machinimax
2: EP III Obi Ani by Novastar
3: Savior by Darth Xusia
4: Calibrate by Madcow
5: Korriban by Madcow
6: EP II Age of Battle by Novastar

Boots were mine and stock boots with the fonts.

The Glams

This time I decided to take full glams both with and without flash.  The first pic will be with flash, the second with be without from the same angle.

At this point, the brightness on my phone auto adjusted for no reason and I couldn't get back the previous settings without making the pictures grainy.

The Build Pics

Not much to show on this one.  Just a few pics to walk you through it.

here is the old heatsink

A few pics detailing the switch setup:

The wired up old heatsink (new wasn't much different.  the leads were just a little longer.  you can see it in the second vid):

The vids should be up shortly and I will modify this post when they are.  I thought they would be done by the time I finished this extremely long post, but I do have really slow internet.

Hey, Wookiecrisp is back!

Actually, folks, you can PM me for the maker of the hilt.  I'm sure he wouldn't mind potential customers, but I just don't want to publish his info without his permission.   ;)

Beautiful work, Alex.  I can hardly wait until it's home.  This is going to be the ultimate Revan saber, and I actually stopped my current KotOR playthrough at Dantooine - right when you get your lightsaber - for when this bad boy comes home.  This is going to be a real beauty, and it's going to be the centerpiece of my collection.

I have to give a big thank you to all the folks who helped me out on this build.  Clearly, I owe a huge thanks to Alex, because he's done a wonderful job on this build, and has gotten me so excited that I can hardly wait until it comes home.  Machinimax also worked hard on getting his font to work properly on the CF 4.31, which, I understand, is a whole different animal, and he deserves recognition for his hard work.  Darth Xusia also put in a lot of time, and was kind enough to contact me to offer the use of some remarkable fonts; the Savior font provides a wonderful, "darkside" counterpoint to the lighter font provided by Machinimax.  All three of these fine folks put in a lot of their time for me at no cost, just because they wanted to help me get an awesome saber, and they deserve my thanks.  I couldn't have done it without their help, and they all put in a remarkable amount of time, both in dealing with me and in working with one another to make sure everything worked flawlessly.

In addition, I should thank Madcow and Novastar.  While they weren't directly involved in the build, they both provided wonderful fonts which allowed me to make a well balanced saber with six fonts that I couldn't be happier with.

A lot of fine folks helped me get this through to conclusion, and I want to take the time to say thanks to all of you.   :D

I can hardly wait for this saber to come home.

@ JM: Ditto! It's so cool to see my font on an actual KOTOR saber. You're welcome! You've really got something awesome there!

@ Alex: It looks beautiful! Fine job as always sir. And I'll assume this means that the CF 4.x version of the font is finally good to go?  ;D (And yes you pronounced my name correctly in the video.  :D )

And now I want to take this opportunity to thank Jm, Alex, and Darth Xusia who were kind enough to help me out with the CF 4.x version of the KOTOR font. Like Jm said converting soundfonts for older CFs is a completely different animal and was difficult since I don't have a 4.x or older. But thanks to these guys, we were able to make it possible!!

Welcome to saber building. You've taken your first step into a larger world!

Thanks guys.  Scorpion, that means a lot.  I've always wanted to be a mining colony member, and it would be cool to get there.

BTW, vid #2 is up.

Wow, been waiting to see this one...and what a reveal thread it was! JM, you know how much I love this saber, due to our previous convos :D plus that was when it was empty!! :o it looks incredible now, congrats on the finished product of this magnificent saber.

Alex, your work is getting more and more amazing. I think this is my favourite build of yours to date 8) I have huge love for this Darth Revan saber, and you have transformed it into a wonderful display piece and weapon. The story of the fonts that go with this saber is really cool too. It's perfect that it has KOTOR fonts, and the others you have chosen are awesome. Huge love for Calibrate over here!

I'm surprised no one has commented on the quick disconnect colour changing options yet. This is a great feature, and works especially well in this saber. I myself would be torn between the two colours you chose, so it's cool to be able to swap them out at will. The white FoC looks awesome on both LEDs, and man that sky blue looks sweet. Extremely bright!

JM, once again congrats on your new saber and Alex...can't wait to see what you have for us next :D
