Alright... THIS one has been a long time coming...
Back around the beginning of 2010, when FX-Sabers had the Alliance Saber contest... I put together a number of designs to use in the competition.
The design I came up with and submitted became the one that eventually won.
BUT... as in good old SW fashion... and in the words of Master Yoda... "No... there is another..."
Soooo... I had another idea... seeing how the Alliance hilt was my take on a Sci-Fi SW katana, with the Tsuka leather wrapping....I also made another design. This design actually incorporated the Tsuba blade guard.
The Alliance saber, or it's official name, Alyansang Talim, was to be the first of a series of lightsabers I've designed called the Talim Series, or the "Edge Series."
This is the evolution of
Talim Tahimik, or roughtly translated from the Filipino language, Tagalog...
"The Tranquil Edge" Now as many of you may know about me... I love certain things in my hilt... great sound... great design... crystal chambers, lots of blinkies...
Well... I shopped around my design with almost ALL of the sabersmiths... Now either the price tag to do it would mean the cost of any of my unborn children... OR... their build log was full.
Enter Roland of Ro-Lightsabers.
He eventually responded back saying that out of all the designs people were asking him to do... he liked mine enough to do it. And so the journey began...
This is what I initially sent him:
The saber is MHS based... with modifications...
It also included a Yoda blade guard incorporated with the Tsuba in the Blade holder section...
After a couple of months of working on the designs... he sent me these renderings...
Now some thing to note at this point... I basically told him to take the initial design and to put his own Ro-Lightsaber spin on it. With the help of his machinist, Balázs of Ro-Lightsabers... they went to work....
Wanting to give this a more personal touch I had HonRev of Regal Jedi create a special Bling on this... a brass Philippine sun to be placed in the pommel area. Being Filipino-American, I thought I'd try to pay homage to my heritage on this saber.
The final product turned into this:
More pictures taken by Roland can be found here:
http://ro-lightsaber.blogspot.com/2011/11/tahilik-talim-for-raymond-aquada.htmlNow the saber at this point had no electronics except for the accent LEDs and the wires...
It was then up to what soundboard to use... I had the option of either outfitting this with a CF or an Igniter. For this particular hilt I decided to go with the Igniter.
Now the saber needed someone who can do the install. At first this went to sabersmigh DoClo, but due to health issues, it was then sent to Ducos Rossis. Personal issues also prevented the install from happening here, so the saber was eventually sent to Gil Gamesh.
After doing some fine tuning... working on some cosmetic things... tightening some loose areas, and sorting out the wires... this is the final product:

So as you can see... the Philippine sun can be seen on the stand too... so that the hilt and the stand compliments each other.
And yes... it does light up. :)
Now how did the Igniter™ soundboard do with this hilt? PERFECT!!! Now this hilt and my Larbel both have the Igniter™ with the R2 upgraded TruColor™ Add-on board.
This is soooooooooooo much fun to play with....
Volume wise? This thing is SUPER loud... the loudest hilt in my collection.
It has a beautiful 10W RGBW LedEngin LED... and it is super bright!!!
Also... this has Saber Cinema™ happening on the "Unnatural" font by Link
6 songs are currently being used on this font... a mixture of Duel of the Fates, the SW theme, Imperial March, and others...It can do up to 99 songs... but I so far only have 6.
What's REALLY cool about this feature... is still allows the font to show off the other features, the swings, the clashes, the blast effects, and the lockup... fun times when showing this off!!!
On to the fonts... I chose to go with a number of different fonts from different font makers, Industrial Action, Link, Madcow, Naigon, and Mongo.
Each having their own blade color and Multi-Die Clash™
Here are the pics.
