Your obi has a way bigger neck than my mkvi.  I only have a .5" hole to shine the light through.  It would make a huge difference if the domes were a tad further apart.

I've actually been told that there isn't really a noticable difference between the ledengin and the tri rebel in the mkvi, the main reason for the swap is that the runtime would basically double with serial wiring vs // wiring.

Lol you can say it was me that tested...though you didn't "have" me test it.  I offered to test it when you asked me my opinion so I could give factual advice over just guessing.

There is a difference it's just not huge.  Still it's a little brighter or as bright at 1A over the other at 2A which should give you a significant increase in run time.

Lol, i guess i didn't have you test it, but i mentioned it and you did me a favor by doing the swap sooner rather than later.  Still worth it to me.  There's a reason i always cram the biggest batteries possible into my sabers.  I like runtime, but after a certain point i don't ever see a need to keep a saber powered up for that long.

One of the really cool things about these LEDs (cree and rebel) I keep forgetting to mention is the center hole.  It makes mounting and running wires so much easier especially if you have to make your own heatsink (for a custom stunt type saber etc)...Well if you have a lathe anyway (which many here do).

What I have done on a couple (as well as a TCSS new style heatsink and conversion kits) is I found a drill bit that is exactly the size of the hole in the center of the LED.  I then put the LED on the lathe and drill down the center of the heatsink.  Then I mount all the wires so that they will exit in the center hole instead of the outside but do not push the wires through yet.  Then I put my thermal tape on and cut the center hole out (exacto knife or the drill bit).  Next I push the non cutting side of the drill bit up through the heatsink and sit the LED on it to make it perfectly centered on the heatsink.  Then I just run the wires directly down the center of the LED and heatsink for a nice easy install.

I have a pic of it somewhere I will post once I find it.

Thats a really cool way to do things MH. What is the maximum amperage these crees can take by the way (not rated on specs, im talking about full power... I know the rebels can take 2A each and still survive. (I've driven a single rebel all the way up to 2A. All colors other than red and amber.)

WOW I have never run a Rebel up to 2A.  Is there a noticeable difference in brightness?

I have not run the cree above 1.2A.  I am not sure if they can handle it or not but may give it a try just to see.

Major noticable difference in brightness. I've gotten the "OW MY EYES" reaction when i've gone from 700mA to 2A on a single rebel. I've gotten the "HOLY CRAP TURN THAT THING OFF" When i've gone from 350ma per die on the tri-rebel to 1000mA per die on the tri-rebel. I recently tried 1.5A in series on the tri-reb but thats as high as i dare go, because we all know these things and heat. Its insanely bright.

Hasn't LDM been using these for a while now? I thought I recognized them.

Either way, I love the testing going on, and definitely would like to pick some up.

Yeah I've been watching the pre-configured tri-rebel options increasing wondering who was paying the $25 fee each time a new one got added...seems like much of it may have been our favourite four saber wielding cyborg experimenting; Thanks General.
To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...

He has been using tri rebels but not tri Crees.  This thread is about tri Crees and a few of us threw some rebels in for comparison.

Since GGR configuration is not available yet, anyone knows what colour FoC a GGW configuration will yield?

I will be wiring GG in // with w for FoC. Will it still be green cause white plus green should be lighter green
