While the ESB is very cool, I'm actually looking to get the ANH one.  I've also got plenty of Mark Hamill signed items already anyhow, LOL.   :D

I have none, so... but I know Hamill will sign every single item they'll produce, I should get his signature collectable one day

I was asleep when the doorbell started ringing. It was my birthday present, the Efx ANH Luke X-Wing helmet. This is my first EFX collectable and before I start writing a review, I'll let you know the quality is there, just like with Master Replicas, but with these expensive collectables you're going the spend some serious dough, so I'm going to give you my very honest opinion and it's not all fortune and glory. Don't get me wrong, it's superb in many ways, but the weathering is a bit off  :P

I'll start writing and taking more pics. Stay tuned  ;)

Yeah I saw one person on eBay who bought this helmet and decided to redo the paint and weathering, however, the way I see it weathering should be subject to a little creative license by the maker, since that's something that will change over time in the story and is not a static thing.  I don't personally need to have the weathering 115% accurate to what was seen on screen, but that's just me.  Looking forward to the review man!  8)

PS:  The only helmet I think that warrants a repainting is the weathered MR 501st helmet; the blue they used (a totally random light blue color) on that helmet is wayyyyy off and not screen accurate AT ALL.  I'm actually quite amazed that MR released that helmet with that color blue on it.  ::)  I had my two MR 501st weathered helmets professionally repainted with an accurate royal blue color.

did you see eFX's lukeROTJ stunt saber?   it was "weathered" with a silver paint pen.   :-\  in the hands of a chimpanzee  :'(

the "weathering" in eFX's products is 10x worse than anything MR ever offered us.  I can't trust them to "Weather" their props -- I passed on the legend edition vader helmet and got the pristine version instead.   like most peopl, I'd rather have the legend edition.  but I can't trust them anymore with realistic "Weathering" -- it always looks like added paint (it never looks like paint 'scraped away') if that makes any sense.   the MR 501st helmet is a prime example.  it doesn't look like natural weathering, it looks like paint.

Yeah I know what you mean about the 501st weathering, looks too "planned" and not natural, at least on the "blue" strip.  The weathering never really bothered me though, in fact I always thought it looked rather decent.  It's that abomination of a light blue shade they used that bothered me, I just never got how that color got okay'd at MR, major ball drop there. :-\  Was a darker, royal blue paint color really that tough to come by?

But anyway, sorry to derail this topic CP.  :D

It's good to open discussions with this matter. Those that have seen Boba Fett helmet from MR know how good the helmet weathering can be. I'm pretty proud the way it came out. ESB X-Wing helmet looks more the way I prefer. ANH helmet looks too clean to my taste, but overall it doesn't take away the coolness of it. Still a darn fine helmet, but doesn't reach gold medal just silver this one.

The ESB helmet was a CV exclusive so you had to be there to buy one and I believe they did sell out of the 500 there was. It took almost a year and a half for the helmet to arrive on my doorstep. Plus the way they did the ordering on-site at CV you could not see it as part of ordered items on their site so no tracking. When my friend Paul got his in the mail and I hadn't heard anything I had to go chase EFX down to find out why I didn't get mine.

I've actually be trying to rearrange my collection room in my infinite spare time (note extreme sarcasm  :D) and have room to put the helmet now. I'll have to make a review so folks can compare the different helmets. Also that is the only autographed item I own and being it was an exclusive at the con I got my plaque signed in person by Mark Hamill.  :)

Yes. You do that review Darth Maul  :). Pretty soon people can compare these 2 helmets. My review shall be here withing 2 hours. Then hopefully later on you'll know which one the get if any. Overall pretty interesting to see the comparison. I myself will have to stick with the ANH helmet review alone, since impossible to compare these 2 helmets not seeing the ESB version with own eyes.
