Prophecy Collector's Edition Review (With Pics)
« on: December 15, 2010, 05:32:38 PM »
I received my Prophecy Collector's Edition in the mail a while ago and have finally gotten some time to write a review.

First off, I selected the quick-ship saber option.  The saber shipped within 48 hours of purchasing it online, and took 6 days to be delivered to my house via standard USPS.

Very speedy, Ultra!  ;D

Out of the box, as I have heard from others, this saber had batteries installed despite not selecting the "$1.00 battery install" option.  The batteries that were in it were drained a bit or just not as powerful as the new ones I installed.  Because despite the brightness of the saber with their batteries, it definitely was brighter with mine installed.  I have no problem with Ultra Sabers quality testing the product before it ships out.  I would hate to have one of the dreaded DOA sabers I hear about but have never encountered.  There were no scratches in the nickel or blade (before I got a go at it  ;D), nor were there any chips in the switch.

Now, on to the visuals:

I chose the Prophecy CE with a Counselor Green Luxeon and a Ultra-edge Heavy Blade.

I disassembled the saber:  To take out the blade you need 2 wrenches (because of the 2 different sized retention screws).

A closer view: You can see the cover-tech knob also taken off.  It is in the middle of the hilt, so, if you are thinking of doing anything other than displaying this saber I would recommend swapping out the CT knob with a retention screw to fill the hole.  --Its easier on the hands--

Reassembled:

Hilt turned:

Blade in hilt, LED off:

LED on, Room light on, camera flash on:

LED on, Room light on, Camera flash off:

LED on, Room light off, Camera flash on:

LED on, Room light off, Camera flash off: Pretty Bright!  8)

LED on, Room light off, Camera flash off: Close up

LED on, Room light on, Camera flash off: Close up

Here is a comparison in size between the Ultra-sabers Prophecy CE and the Force-FX Anakin RotS Saber (I am in the process of an LED string upgrade so I had the Anakin Hilt lying around): The Prophecy CE is smaller. --The prochecy is more comfortable to hold too--

All-in-all, this is a great saber.  I will most likely add sound and change the guarded, blue standard switch to an Anti-vandal switch.

Great Job Ultra for another fine saber!

Thank you all for your time in viewing and/or commenting.

Nice review! Good pictures too.

Just one question.

You said "A closer view: You can see the cover-tech knob also taken off.  It is in the middle of the hilt, so, if you are thinking of doing anything other than displaying this saber I would recommend swapping out the CT knob with a retention screw to fill the hole.  --Its easier on the hands--"

Can you explain what you mean? Wouldn't the CT not matter for display? Isn't it most useful when you're actually wearing it around with the appropriate belt clip?

Thanks!

I meant, this being my opinion of course  ;), in a display, the CT knob looks great.  If I were to duel with this saber I would take the CT knob off.  Its more comfortable for my hands not having it in the way.

Having the blade out of the hilt, a CT knob would be useful (as you said) if a person wanted to carry the hilt on a CT clip on their belt.
