Clone Wars season 3
« on: August 18, 2010, 12:47:50 AM »
I'm surprised no one has posted this yet:

Savage Oppress

Sounds like he's from the same place as Darth Maul

I haven't been following the series that closely lately, but I really like what I've seen of the first two seasons.

Yeah...  I read and watched the vids, and it is indeed Mauls brother..  I'm really interested to see what they do with his character.  I know that he will be associated with Dooku   ;D

I read that Filoni stated he is NOT actually Maul's brother, that Lucas misspoke.  Looks cool but "Savage Oppress?"  Why not name him "Evil Bad Guy?"   :P

hahah Greivous is cool, but really? Savage Oppress?

Why not Mr. Meanie-butt? Or maybe Rampant Destroy?

All I know is the series is a major let down, and has altered all I once knew to be canon... :( Anakin wasn't supposed to have an apprentice, if she was so important then why wasn't sh in Episode III? Oh that's right. She didn't exist. :D

Well, maybe at least Oppress will be a bad guy who (despite his name) isn't totally cliched. Or stupid. Or dangerously powerful and unstoppable. :o Like all the others I've seen in the series.

I'm sure it will be an awesome show down regardless of who he is. I've loved the series so far. I'm excited for the premiere even though its a month away.

Mr. Big Meanie Butt, lol

Seriously though, how much more is GL gonna milk the Clone Wars for anyway? The war was only 1089 days... There are so many other eras to explore

On second thought though, given how much the Clone Wars has messed up already established canon, maybe its better to just leave it all alone. Like, since when are Mandalorians pacifists?

I haven't even seen CW Seasons 2 - 3 ::) . For many reasons...

Honestly, I think Bioware should make a KOTOR - era film, using the same graphics companies they are using to make the SWTOR trailers. It would be epic, well-loved, add a whole new part to the SW story and, above all, make it a product that people will want to repeatedly watch. It'll gross extremely well (look at how well Fanboys did) and would be worth it.

I think the point is - to GL, the 6 movies are his babies. Outside of that was not in his original script/idea, so he could pretty much care less. That's what other people are making out of his story, not him, so he's allowing them to do so (it's more money in his pocket). He made his movies (the 6) and was done with it, we're making more out of the story, but that's not his choice, it's ours.

The Clone Wars movie was okay, for a kids movie. It had some good aspects, but I still say this series goes too far for my taste. :P

Not to sidetrack, but a KOTOR era Bioware movie would be sweet.

I actually like how the CW series has evolved.  The movie was AWFUL, but I've come to enjoy much of the series more then the prequels.  I'm not a huge fan of the style, but still like it.  I'd prefer a more realistic style of animation, like the KOTOR and Force Unleashed trailers mentioned.

if bioware did a kotor-era series, it would still have ewoks and jar-jars, by design ::) it would be bastardized, into a kiddie franchise.  it would be no better/different than clone wars.

that was ALWAYS GL's "vision" for star wars:    a slapstick children's comedy set in another universe, combining elements of every movie-genre known to man (in the 1950's): gunslinger-westerns, knights-in-armor, WW2 fighter planes, romantic comedy, etc, etc... its ALL in there.  like a Film School jambalaya.  ::)

GL has always lamented that the "suits" at 20th century fox would not "let" him make the series that he wanted to make (read: Kurtz and Kasdan). they challenged him at EVERY turn, and effectively "forced" him to make something GOOOD!  when ESB came along, he hand-picked the director to be a "Yes Man" and do whatever george told him:  george wanted light-hearted children's fare.   Fortunately, Kurtz and Kasdan bent Kirshner's ear and convinced him to make a dark sequel.  according to SW myth.. when Geroge saw the first draft of Empire, he blew a gasket.   instead of light-hearted children's fare,, Kirshner had created the darkest sequel in the history of hollywood.  (also the BEST!!).  george was livid.

--->   from ROTJ onward..  gorge was granted FULL creative control over his franchise.   Kurtz and Kasdan were fired.  and leg-humping Ewoks reigned supreme.

 :-\

and its been like that ever since:   a one-man show, by a guy who REALLY should be kept in check by a serious producer, FOR HIS OWN GOOD!
"The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story.
Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned, and Luke doesn't get married..."
