How do you transport your blades?
« on: October 15, 2009, 05:09:39 AM »
I guess this also applies to lightsaber hilts too...

Basically I've got three blades for 3 different hilts... if I drag them around to show off all 3 lightsabers... the hilts... problem solved... foamed up aluminum briefcase (reallly cool... pictures later).

Blades... a different story.... wanting suggestions/solutions.....

There are some topics somewhere here with ideas Ray.  I recall some people used a custom made sack with a sling just big enough to slide the blade in.  Han Solo makes some amazing wooden "gun type" cases with foam inside that are perfect also.  I think Raijlin may have purchased one as did a few other members.

Yeah... I remember seeing the one with a "frog" that's a pretty cool idea.

Gun bag... that's something to think about....

Did a search... couldn't find it.

NICE find Jango!!!

That might hold my 3 removeable blades!!!

More ideas people?... when you hit the conventions... and travel on planes with blades... how do you transport them?

I'll try to find it.  I mislead you a bit.  I said gun bag but it was more of a sock.  A sleeve if you will.   Think sleeping bag for your blade.

I used to use a rifle bag...until I was standing at a bus stop and 2 cop cars pulled up to inspect what I was doing. Now, I just carry them.

Pool cue case. Not so much the hard ones, but the tubular leather ones that can hold more than one.

Here is what I use:  http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4303558  I have been able to get 9 sabers and blades in it.  It is very durable and when closed the sabers don't slide around.  Plus, it is only $47

Art stores are your friend! ;D

Any hobby/art/craft store worth anything should have these and similar tubes, particularly art stores.  They're cheap and won't get you questions like a rifle case (coming from a gun owner myself, I might add).

The one downside is it tends to rattle unless full of blades.  You could add in some foam bumpers too, also available at a craft store. ;D

I tuck my blades under the back seat of my truck! ;) If I'm really brave I will kidnap my GF's yoga bag! 8) http://cgi.ebay.com/Beautiful-Yoga-Bag_W0QQitemZ190340620830QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2c512f621e

They hang out the end but keep everything together with the tie at the top. ;)

I use martial arts sword bags I purchase from either my school or near by supply store.  I've used both  the black vinyl like "fold over", and the zip down the side green with brown ends... I prefer the zip down the side ones for easier access...   I can provide links later tonight.  I'm at work now, and the system prohibits certain sites. :(

I’d glad that I’m not alone, deep within the dork forest.

The nice hard sided ballistic nylon fishing rod cases are also a great idea.  Usually they come with a shoulder strap too.
