Our current account approval process is manually done by only a couple of admins. What does that mean to new users signing up?
We receive on the upward of 200+ account requests per day on the site. On average 1-5 of those accounts are even valid in the first place. With that many spammer accounts it becomes extremely difficult to pick the valid ones out of the mix. A few things below are listed to help give you an idea of what may get your account deleted instead of approved:
1. Strange names, one that looks like random generated or something most people wouldn't use.
2. Email address from non-mainstream providers especially strange sounding domains.*
3. Signup from an IP Address/Network that has had a history of spammers.**
* Some safe domain examples would be gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc
** This is a rare occurrence. It has happened a couple times with people signing up from public locations such as a college campus.
If you have issues with getting your account approved for any reason and are waiting for approval/activation you can contact email@example.com
. Please send the email from the account's email that you are sending the question about for validation reasons. If you are having trouble getting reactivated due to an email change this is crucial so we know an existing account isn't trying to be accessed by another source. Provide your username/email you signed up with and I can work on getting your access squared away.
