Sinktube Sith Saber

Hooray for alliteration!  ;D Some of you may have seen this poll on TCSS...don't let that discourage you from voting or speaking your mind again!

Anyhow. I'm planning a sinktube build for a second CF'ed saber, kind of like the Sith complement to Obeisance so I can have fun with a lucky friend who gets to play said CF'ed Sith hilt. I won't be able to get around to building this until May, because of the spring semester. I've been thinking about this hilt for awhile though and finally put it down to paper today.

Upon arriving home, I uncovered a blast from my past- my very first "dream saber" design, dating back to 2005! It was also intended to be a sith hilt. The design was sinktube and PVC-based and I never got around to implementing it (due to lack of skills and Tim's wonderful 1.25" bladeholder when I designed this in 2005). It had a very Vader-y feel (like an homage to Vader, kind of like Obeisance is an homage to Obi-Wan). After reveling in this find...I'm a little torn between both of my designs. They will definitely both have to be built. Just...which one deserves the CF? And which one will recieve a lowly MR/Hasbro FX board?

I call upon you to vote! Choose which one will be CF'ed from the following:

It IS hard to decide and I almost selected both, ....because sooner or later, ....you really SHOULD make both of them.

But the 05 version has a few more awesome hairs on it. Just a few.

Very hard decision, .....make em both, ...but make that vader-y one first!

You work is amazing, ......I enjoy your sabers!

I STILL can't stop looking at that apple, .....

I went with both.

And I re-worded your last choice to a more appropriate way of expressing not being skilled. We are trying to make this place more....fun. (So I went with the Vader statement. ;))

The apple is a curiousity to me also. That's a massive apple! :D

The Vader statement...how appropriate for this particular poll  :P

I'm definitely going to have to build both of them...but I only have one piece of toast! And I can't split the toast between both hilts! The lucky hilt gets the toast, and the unlucky hilt gets an MR/Hasbro FX board.

I have to go with the Graflex! ;D The graflex looks soo close to a starkiller saber.....hmmmm I would jump right on a list if someone made one of those

They are both sweet, but I think I prefer the Graflex type just a tad better.  They are both great designs.  Maybe you'll get another slice of toast sometime soon?  We all need more toast, with plenty of butter too!!!

The Garflex for design and the Vader for contrast (the use of black/natural) Maybe you should invert the colors for the garflex I don't know of any with a black body/overlay and a silver core/base?

I said the Vader-y style saber. You don't see as many of those and the design was pretty awesome, and it just beat out the graflex. The originality eventually won out and thats why I picked the Vader hilt. But yes definitely make them both. ;D

I said Vader only because I can't visualise exactly what the graflex will look like.  I like the drawing and all I am just on the fence.  IMO nothing beats a graflex.  The vader looks awefully nice though.

Should I take this to mean I should try coloring up the graflex SSS for a better vizualization than some quick shading to denote silver and black?

You CAN change your votes in this poll...I might take some colored pencils to the uncolored SSS and see what people think then.

I still think the Garflex would look great if you inverted the colors! But as you stated it is your saber you have the final say. I am still going Garflex all the way!
