Even tho I enjoyed the original Clone Wars Shorts I don't consider them to be official SW canon. There is no way to keep any sense of continuity when untold amounts of writers have in some way contributed to SW in one form or another. Lucas himself has said many times that he doesn't follow any EU based star wars material. He has also said there are 3 star wars universes, His, Video Games, and Expanded Universe material (books) To me the only things that involve GL directly in one form or another is what I consider official canon (Episodes 1-6 and The current Clone Wars Cartoon) for example.
Lets say you created a fantasy world that people can't get enough of and decided to let others develop off shoot material to fund the machine. You then come back years later and want to tell more of a story about your fantasy world, would you read all the material others came up with and try to fit in your story with there's? Or would you say ....."This is my universe, I will tell whatever story I feel like and if it doesn't fit with what some others have wrote on a subject ....ohhh well"
So to me ...this is not a continuity error. I heard somewhere that there is some EU book that tells the story of how Gen. Grev. came to be. Something to the effect of he being in a ship crash and Dooku saved his life by making him the cyborg he is. Well that doesn't vibe with the Clone Wars series either.
