Man I have been almost as excited about seeing the animated Clone Wars movie as I have been the other 6 movies. So needless to say I check the net each day for new info on the movie/series. As of the last week a few reviews have been coming in and they don't look good at all. I always check www.rottentomatoes.com to get an idea on any movie. For those who may not be familiar with the site, they take all reviews into account negative and positive and average them out to give a % of the reviews. To put things in perspective TPM has a rating of 67% the SW Holiday special clocks in around 40%. So basicly you could say out of 100 people 40 like it 60 don't. Currently The Clone Wars is at 29%.

Dont get me wrong, I don't rely on reviewers to tell me if I will like a movie or not, but you kind of get an idea whats going on if things are really bad or really good. So what is the deal with everyone hating on it so much, I guess I won't know for sure til I see it but I have seen alot of the complaints and they seem kinda stupid. With complaints ranging from Anakin doesn't have a padwan to the animation sucks. Are people forgetting this is intended to be the opening of a TV series, and GL doesn't write all the expanded universe books that don't included characters he puts in this new film.

I don't get the animation complaints....everyone liked the clone wars mini series from a few years ago. They all consider that some kind of "art style" and its totaly acceptable. But it appears since this new movie isn't photo real or not on par with wall-e, its just bad and not watchable. I am sorry if I were to pic what I would rather have... a new tv series to be made in the CG The CW movie is or in the 2d animation style from a few years ago I would pick the CG everytime. Maybe I am wrong and if so can someone explain why this movie/ series is a bad idea? I can accept it if the movie is simply not good, but bashing a movie because it doesn't look like how you want it to or that is has created a new character you have not heard of is kinda silly.

Yeah, when I looked at the reviews on my phone today I was amazed at how low the scores were.  I'll still have to see the movie since I love Star Wars.  But then again these scores are from reviewers.  I just recently saw Step Brothers which has a score of like 50% and I really enjoyed the movie.  The only complaint about the animation that I saw was that the animation itself wasn't quite good.  They made reference to whenever the characters are walking it just seems clunky almost.

I never pay attention to reviews as many times I disagree with the review.  Many times the reviews IMO reflect the viewers tastes and personality which may differ from my own.  My other issue is reading reviews before I go see a movie.  If I do this then I often go in thinking it might stink when in fact I may have enjoyed it more not looking to see if it stinks.  IOW the review often sets my mood for the movie before the previews start.

In short if you like SW and want to see it go with an open mind then make up your own review.

I get to go see the screener for it tonight in St louis, oh in about an hour.  So I will post up a STAR WARS FAN review of the movie after I have seen the screener.

I really do hate reviewers though. Almost every movie I've seen that someone has said it sucked, I have liked. All of the SW films had bad reviews, comments like, bad acting, crappy lines...Yet I loved every movie, and have watched them all more times than I can count.

My Guess, I will love it and not be able to shut up about it.

Plain and simple is they hate GL he is an artist who has complete control over his art and can do with it what ever he wants in what ever way he wants and they can't stand that... so it's always about taring him down...the movement of the characters in the film is based on a puppet show....the color on everything looks like it was painted on a canvas with a brush...these are style choices made by the artist...not bad animation....I have no time for anybody who wants to trash this movie because most of the time the criticism comes from a complete lack of understanding of what they are seeing....................................they are just consumers.....they take your art for their entertainment.. nail you to the cross for it and then throw it away like it has no value.... when the truth is they have no value......

Yeah I would agree with you 100%, well said. I feel things like the way they walk is not a mistake or bad because they couldn't get it right, but it was a choice to do it that way. Thats why I refer to the 2d animated series... it isn't compaired to other animated shorts on the quality of its drawings. Why? because they were going for that look specificly and I feel that is the same thing with The Clone Wars 3d movie. But for whatever reason people feel it needs to look better and is compaired to other CG animated movies. It seems the difference is, in 2d its called a "style" but in 3d animation its not, its more simply called bad or good, its a total double standard.

I just got back from the Screener.

One word,

AWESOME!!!!!!!

I can't tell you anything. The movie has so many awesome parts and twists in it, you will be screaming at the screen at the end!!!!

Stay through the credits, there is a 30 seconds ad for another movie.  I won't tell you what it is, because it would ruin the surprise.

I actually saw this at a pre-showing on Monday, and I thought it was very good. I even wore my Luke Skywalker Force FX on my belt! (A converted Ultrasaber, of course. No blade. lol) A general moviegoer might not appreciate it as much as I did, but most Star Wars fans with open minds should thoroughly enjoy it. The one thing I think they could have done to make the reviews better is let more people know that this is the first part of an upcoming television series. If you look at it as a standalone movie, it really doesn't make much sense because by the time the film's over, it's left pretty open-ended. I definitely don't want to spoil anything for you, but in my opinion, the best part of the film was the abundance of new characters. Asohka is actually a really likable character, and Commander Cody and even Odd Ball make cameos briefly, which I thought was really cool. There's also a new Clone Trooper you'll get to know, Commander Rex. There are a couple of other new characters later on, but I won't reveal them. There isn't a new character that I didn't like; let's just leave it at that. The movie almost completely follows Anakin and Asohka (and Artoo). Most of the other major players in other movies (Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace, Padme) take secondary roles, but there is plenty of Asajj Ventress. It's a very satisfying film, and it will leave you excited for the upcoming series. If you're looking for another true episode of the saga, you're not going to find it (it lacks the traditional opening scroll, and the Star Wars theme is sort of remixed), since the scope of the movie is relatively small, but the plentiful Jabba the Hutt scenes will delight everyone, I'm sure. :D

Any complaints about the animation style are a load of crock, IMHO. I really liked the look and feel of the visual effects. You may feel a bit of an aversion to it at first (think of how creepy the Polar Express movie was), but you'll get used to it quick, especially after the first battle on planet Christophis, which is long and spectacular, and is Obi-Wan's shining moment in the film along with his quick duel with Ventress. Asohka is actually a pretty accomplished duelist herself, and I thought it was a little surprising for a new padawan to wield a lightsaber (and the Force) with that much skill. I guess it just shows how powerful she'll become later in the series. :) In conclusion, I would highly recommend this movie and would pay to see it again. My review and opinion as an avid Star Wars fan might be a little biased, but on the other hand, isn't it in the nature of big fanboys to get upset at little tiny details? lol I've never been a Lucas-basher, so I guess either I'm also a sucker or the movie was pretty decent. lol I've let my brain stew over the movie for a couple of days before really commenting on the movie, and I would still pay to see it again, which is a big deal for me typically, so I give it a thumbs-up as a fan.

The one thing that kinda bothers now that I think about it is that Bib Fortuna was inconspicuously absent from the film. I guess this is one of those fanboy details I mentioned earlier, and it definitely doesn't ruin the movie or anything, but I kinda like that guy and was wondering where he was. It's bad enough Salicious Crumb hadn't come around yet, but we all know Jabba's pale majordomo was employed by the Hutt by that time (think Episode I), so I guess he was on vacation somewhere on the the other side of the Dune Sea. lol His role as aide/interpreter to Jabba is filled by a grayish 3PO droid. Jabba's dialog isn't given the typical subtitles either, so I guess that sort of explains Fortuna's absence, since, as we all know, he only speaks in Huttese. lol Still, Jabba's palace didn't quite feel the same without all the alien miscreants we remember from Return of the Jedi. :( That's really the only downer I experienced during this film, but I'm probably a bigger Jabba fan than most anyway. lol I would've liked there to be more General Grievous too, but I can live with his brief cameo (along with the other CIS leaders, as well as Kit Fisto and Plo Koon) at the beginning of the movie.

This film is definitely worth the time and money, and goes on longer than you expect it to, which is a good thing. It will get you pumped for the TV series coming later this year! 8) I recommend it.

I go to Rotten Tomatoes a lot. I don't know why I continue to go there when one their top critics said some BS about how the characters in Star Wars don't have enough depth...

I saw the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars this evening at the midnight showing. I thought it was really good. I never listen to movie reviews or the movie critics because I don't care what they think. I care about my opinion of the film and I thought it was really good! It is definately worth paying the $6.50 to see the movie. Lots of action and a good plot and storyline. I do not want to ruin the film for anyone out there and so I am not going to tell you about the movie. But true Star Wars fans will truely enjoy it.
