Oooops sorry DT I just saw this was an UltraSabers questions only thread.  Sorry for the derail.  I haven't had much time on the forum lately to read through posts.  Wink

Bump on thread.  This is for Ultrassabers questions only please.    Don't be a dum dum like me.  Roll Eyes

It's okay Luke Grin

No worries.  Actually it is Ultrasabers centric, but other custom work questions are fine too. Wink

Just as long as no one asks about Overlord or Ultrasound 2.0 release date info, we're squared. Wink

Hey DT; Sakwi Deham (Duke in Hammond, IN). Got a question regarding Ultra Blades.
Q/A #1: Are they going to carry any more Heavy Duty (thickwall blades) anymore; Noticed they have not shown in stock for a while.
Q/A #2: Is Ultra chamging blade diffusers permenantly? I got a Liberator and it has like a Corbin film instead of the solid diffuser (which I liked better).
Q/A #3: Are any of the pointed blade tips coming back?

Thanks!

1: Ultra had made the decision to go with the Medium grade blades as they are a tad thicker than the regular thin walled polyC. At this time I do not believe that they are doing anything more with the heavy grade blades.

2:  Not that I have seen, unless they are experimenting.  Do you mind snapping photos of this new stuff?

3:  Todd had made the comment some time ago about that being a possibility, but at this time I do not know.  Perhaps if the demand is high enough, it may come to be.  I know I would like a few.

I bought an Obi conversion kit and was wondering if you can still buy just some ultra film (no blade)?

At this time, Ultra isn't offering the film by itself at this time.

However, I might be able to sweet talk, and get a few rolls here and there. I'll drop a PM to you.

*NOTE- This does NOT mean that I want 50 people PM-ing me about this mmmkay?*

Okay, this sort of applies to both, as I read the info in the Ultrasabers thread, but it's still about a bit of DIY-- so I hope I'm asking in the right area, DT!

In any case, I know I read in the Ultrasabers mail-in thread that it is in fact possible to do a conversion on a Luke RotJ EL version saber.  Well, I have a friend's Luke on which the blade broke off completely, and he'd like to convert it.  I have Ultra's instructions for converting the LED version, which came with the Luke kit I bought for my saber.  But that doesn't have any EL instructions.  So, are there any instructions to convert the EL to a Lux?  (I also read posts in the thread about wiring it up using a completely different battery pack and so forth-- but I don't want to have to do that.)   And please do forgive me if there are instructions somewhere else; I searched but honestly couldn't find them.

Thanks as always for your help, DT!

Good luck on that endeavor.

I've never messed with the EL versions of any of the MR saber (Let alone any EL at all)

From what I understand, the EL versions are possible to convert, but they don't last long in the way of electronics lifetime.

Sorry if I can't be more help here on this one.  I can't even find anything by googling. And the topic just doesn't exist at TCSS that I can see.

The one thing that seems to be a positive for the EL Lukes is the fact that they DO run on 9V... Meaning that you might be able to rig up something for a Lux V...

Well, many thanks, DT!  I did take a look over at TCSS as well, and found nothing.  I really do appreciate you taking the time to look this up for me.

Here's another question related to that one, if you'd be so kind to help me out with: If I had the "guts" (electronics and black plastic housing) from an LED version Luke, would they fit right inside the body of the EL version?  I know the hole in the emitter is a different size, as my 1" UltraBlades won't fit in-- but are the insides the same size otherwise?  (This way, if I can puck up the electronics, I can still use the body.)

Again, thanks for the help... as always!

Yes, if you have the guts from an LED saber, you can change it out.  As far as I know, the emiter is the only major difference in the hilt body design between the two.

I dunno if this goes here or not? If it does. I apologize. This is only my 6th or so time browsing the forum.

I bought a Apprentice, Guardian Blue.(Menticore, I think it is?) from ebay. I was pondering if the hilt was fully paintable or if I could damage it in any way?(Should read, "If the PAINT can damage it in any way.)

When I did a forum search, I found a topic, but it was only talking about the initiates.

Thank you for your time.

Yes, thank you Ki Adi Mundi! Cool

Yes the initiate, Apprenetice, and Dark initiate PVC sabers can all be painted to your liking.  Just make sure you mask off the emitter hole, and switches so that they don't get gunked up with paint.
