Hello everyone!  

This topic will be a Q&A topic for questions regarding Ultrasabers Products.  However, This is NOT a topic for asking about release dates for upcoming parts and sabers.  There are plenty of other topics for this.

This topic will focus on TECHNICAL assistance questions.  I would have put this in the customer service area, but it fits better here in the Q&A.

Please do not stray from the topic subject matter. Any off-topic posts will be promptly removed.

Please do not double post in this topic.  The above rule will apply, but instead of removal, the posts will be compressed into one, and multiple strings will be deleted.

IF you have a problem with a defective or malfunctioning saber purchased from Ultrasabers, this should be your first stop for info.  In the instance that information obtained here cannot help, I will contact via PM and get the ball rolling for a repair job.

What a helpful idea DT. Here goes: The clear disc which covers the bulb in the emitter of my Luke ROTJ Fire Orange Lux III, recently fell out. What glue do you use to hold this disc in place? How do I go about re-attaching it?

If you mean the collamitor lens (optic for the LED)  It us usaully held in with Hi-temp hot glue.  It's been a while since I have dealt with one, but the lens should be held in place by a polycarbonate ring down inside the emitter.

Did just the lens pop out, or was it the whole assembly? 

Either way, it is going to require a tear down of the saber to remove the blade holder and reattach the assembly to the LED.

Only the lens fell out. I wouldn't have guessed that such a small piece of plastic would require a full tear down of the saber. It was quickly becoming my favorite saber. That's unfortunate since I recently got it. Looks like it's off to a pro for repairs. Thanks for the response DT.

Just a quick query about the curved hilt initiate sabers. Are they the same size as the normal initiate sabers?

And would they hold one of my standard ultra blades or only the smaller ones?


Reason I'm asking is i'm in looking at a new style of saber to duel with in an upcoming sparring session

The dark initiates have the same Internal Diameter as the other Ultra Initiates, so any 1" diameter blade will fit.

I have a question somewhat similar to the first post.

I'm considering buying another DIY conversion kit, but I'd want to swap the luxeon led for a seoul p4 led. How hard would it be to do? If I remember correct Ultras led/heatsinks are one contained unit.

For which saber are you wanting to do this?

The only Ultra kit to date that has a totally enclosed LED unit is the Luke ROTJ.

Luke ROTJ: The heatsink is actually just an aluminum slug that is machined with a Lip that is pressed and glued into place inside the bottom of the bladeholder. It is removeable to access the LED, but you have to find an effective way to reset the heatsink securely after making the swap.

Maul: Threaded copper heatsink, screws into bladeholder

Mace: (When available) Same as above

Obi Wan: The heatsink is held in place by three headless set screws that are threaded into the bottom of the bladeholder

AnakinROTS/Vader ESB/Vder ANH: The LED holder has a threaded heatsink that screws in.

I just purchased my first Ultra Saber off ebay today. I bought the Dark Initiate (hopefully with the Silver blade, I asked for Orange then found out about the filters. So I emailed them about a different color). But I was wondering, is it possible to add a sound board to this saber later on down the road? I plan on having a custom purple saber built for me and would love for that saber builder to throw a sound board in my new Dark Initiate.

It is possible. But not easy.  You might look into a Yoda Force FX soundboard since it is smaller than the others.The 4AA battery holder takes up a lot of space in the hilt. Plus with the new switches being used, they provide some obstruction due to the length of the shaft on them.

Also, You lose any and ALL water resistance that the initiate sabers have if you add sound.

I have another noob Dark Initiate question.  Ultra Sabers says that it is modifiable.  Will I be able to attach the Claw Emitter and Radiator pommel from saberkit.com? Or am I better off asking a custom saber builder to customize my Initiate? I have never built a saber before so I'm not quite sure what exactly is involved. I can't wait to get this saber!!

I was thinking of using delrin as a chassis.  What do you think about putting the delrin next to the heat sink?  I don't want to get it too close and melt it.  I know the heat sink can get hot just don't know how hot. 

I will be using my CF to overdrive a lux V green like Corbin did in his killer penny.  So added heat there I am sure.

The claw setup won't happen. The pommel may...Not sure about that.

Delrin won't melt. Corbin's KP used delrin as a chassis as well, so no worries. Madcow's Qui Gon also has it.
