Maybe they will have new sounds to increase marketability over the MR? They gotta have an edge to lure existing and new customers.

My nephew just show me his new ETA2 and it got rubber tips and weapons... there I was thinking about their safety issues and all that. Darn, what if they replace some of the metal parts of the FX to... RUBBER???? :'(

I am just concerned about the quality of the HASBRO sabres IF they are even made. They are a "toy" company. If they can atleast match MR quality and durability then i will invest in new sabres from hasbro. I mean new characters and designs. I just have a weird feeling that they might turn out to be cheap and "too" mass produced or god forbid "plasticy". Anyone else feel me on this?

I for one will go out on a limb for hasbro.I say they will do a great job on the fx sabers.I think that they know that us starwars fans are the buyers of the fx's. 8)

you're very optimistic there ben, you do realize they might be betting on sales based on having the star wars brand attached rather than based on quality right? that fits their MO alot better than the we'll do a good job to please the fans.

I'll buy a Qui Gon, or and Obi TPM, other than that I'm just not all that intrested in a re-box. Ethier way I'm not going to lose sleep over it. As far as quality of Hasbro, I don't see why you guys are judging something that hasn't even come out yet. It's kind of like fear-mongiering or something.
BTW:
check out this link...
http://www.famousmaps.com/s/155/HasbroFactory.html
That is the Hasbro Factory--- Location: United States , Rhode Island
Hasbro is an American Toy Company-- give them the "benifit of doubt".

JP you realize there is no "THE" hasbro factory, right?
i'm also an avid GI Joe collector, and its common knowledge these figures are made in china, by a chinese factory contracted by hasbro.

and the sabers will most likely keep being made at the factory they have been made at under the MR brand. pretty sure this has already been confirmed somewhere...

owen you want sneak peeks of the same sabers we already have?

Mojo_LA, i think i'm with you on this one.

Just came across this from www.yodasnews.com and thought I'd post. It's from a new Q&A with Hasbro.

YN: Can you speak on the rumors that Hasbro Is working on a way to make the 2008 released FX Lightsabers in some form of plastic or cheaper synthetic material as opposed to the metal we have seen from MR in order to bring the cost down to something not only a collector would buy but also a child?

H: Those rumors are false. We have an abundant supply of lightsabers focused at kids already in the form of basic, electronic, The Force Unleashed, Ultimate LS, etc. Our intention is to keep production exactly the same, with the same materials, on a consistent and ongoing basis. In addition, future FX sabers that we plan to introduce would also be made of the same materials to form a contiguous collection.

I think that this statement from yodanews warrants credibility on material and that they have the collector in mind. They already have the toys and that fan base. As for better material and staying on par with what MR has used, this most likely feesible. Like other Lightsaber Sites, we have hand thousands of unknown guests. And I'll bet money, there has to have been some researchers from not only Hasbro, but other companies who were interested in getting the FFX Trademark Line from LFL before Hasbro won it. The market researchers have, no doubt, put presentation packages together and presented them to the marketing departments, letting them know what what collectors / fans want and what is feasible.

I believe that Hasbro will have at least MR quality, if not better. They have a much larger budget and fan base.

Yeah I am really worried about the sound boards. I use MR boards alot in my custom sabers, and i have tried hasbro boards but they really suck, lets hope this is one thing they really upgrade on.

As long as the hilts are of good quality I wouldn't really care about the sound. However, if the sound turns out to be good then so much the better!  ;D
