About ADO

Ado,the way of the draw, developed in conjunction with various styles of kenjutsu. the aim of iaido is to rapidly draw the sword and in one and the same motion make an effective cut.In the practice of Iaido, combat effectiveness is secondary in importance to spiritual and moral development. it was not until the 20th century that the term Iaido came into use and its practice came to be considered as a discipline in its own right

The darkside is not the way! I won't listen to your lies!
I shouldn't, it's not the jedi way!
The lightsaber are made for the jedi, but not for those who are made for the darkness

It's all about practice and sparring with someone to keep your skills and speed up...
learning techniques is great but watching your opponent is the key ;)

Dueling with Lightsabers is the best because the blade is easy to see :D

I can vouch for the blade being easier to see on lightsabers.  My friend bought some wooden "practice" samurai swords, and I beat the heck out of his fingers.  Can't duel with anything that doesn't light up anymore.  That dark wooden blade is hard to see.  Eager for info on iaido :)

I love all kinds of swords. I have actually considered about taking some fencing hours or something that you could learn to use swords. I have one Paul Chen's Practical Katana on my wall. I have practised with it some times, but it's a bit dangerous, because it's deadly sharp. At one time I almost hit my leg and the lamp went in 2 pieces, so no more practising with that. But some sword lessons would be great...  :D

I studied Kendo for a while years ago. Not bad, but more sport then actual combat. For some reason, anything that is used as an extension of my hand seems very comforting however. Just like at work, if needed, I'll draw my ASP before my pistol or OC spray. Always wanted to get back into kendo. Iaido is not offered around here. What style is the one that Nick Gillard incorporated into his choreographing. There was a few styles, along with his own style. But there was an Asian art. The name begun with an "S". Does anyone know?
