In that particular picture, to my eyes, it looks like a royal blue.

Here's a better picture showing the color.

Regular Blue to my eyes. An example of Royal Blue would be Anakin's saber blade color in ROTS.

I'm not sure about that.  Looking at this pic of Anakin's saber in ROTS compared to the one I linked earlier, the colors look very close.

I could be wrong though.  My eyes could be playing tricks on me.

Watch ROTS, when Ani and Obi face Dooku, you can really see the darker, deeper blue shade of their blades. In your screen cap, I think Vader's red blade color is mixing alittle with the blue of Luke's blade, When Luke ignites his saber in ESB, it is not a royal blue.

I second the ESB being regular blue. It's definitely a lighter shade than royal blue in the Wampa cave and the Dagobah cave.

Gotcha.  Yeah, like I said, my eyes told me royal blue as soon as I saw it.  All of the stills I kept finding on Google show the ESB color to be a darker blue, but I guess either those are edited to look darker or not as dark as I'm thinking they are.

No harm, no foul either way.

Allow me to complicate matters by reminding everyone that extensive (and baffling) colour grading work was done on ESB Special Edition that would alter the shade of blue

Yep. That would definitely lead to complications as to what the accurate shade of blue was.  I'm guessing that it more of a regular blue in the original cut, but in the special edition, it was altered to a darker blue, like royal blue.

That would be my guess, at least.

Exactly. The correct answer is this: If your asking because your building a Luke graflex ESB, get the shade of Blue that You like!

It's even worse than that because the shade of blue you see could be influenced by the device you're viewing the pictures on. I'd say just go with your preference if you're building a saber for your own enjoyment.
